Who are we?
Founded in 1979, we are the original Probus Club in the Bournemouth area We have a membership of 75, plus Honorary and Associate members covering a very wide range of past professions and businesses.
The object of the Club is to promote good fellowship amongst retired and semi retired Professional and Business men . We are non-political and non-sectarian and do not normally make donations to charities or other bodies. There is a small joining fee and an annual subscription to cover administration costs. Members are expected to assist with the running of the Club and to support our social and sporting events.
What do we do?
Members meet on the second Tuesday in each month for Luncheon at the Marsham Court Hotel on the East Cliff Map. - except in August and in also December when we have our Christmas Luncheon. We meet for coffee at 10:30 am when members catch up with friends old and new, followed by club business announcements and then usually a speaker, followed by lunch. Meetings normally finish around 2:00 pm, but members often stay on to enjoy each others company.
We also have monthly Coffee mornings on the last Tuesday of each month - again at 10:30 am except August and December - when we are joined by our ladies, guests and members of other local and visiting Probus clubs. These mornings are very informal with usually some form of light entertainment.
We have an extensive and varied Social and Sporting programme throughout the year including mini-holidays, black tie dinner dances, theatre trips and visits to a variety of places of interest. There is an active Golf section and we meet other Probus clubs for Skittles and other sporting events. To see details of the forthcoming programme click HERE .
